Haunted Humanities: Death Metal Demonstration
Realized Design - University of Kansas

This project was for an Exhibition titled Haunted Humanities. It is an annual program put on around Halloween by the University of Kansas Humanities Department. For the inaugural year, I was tasked with designing a "Death Metal" costume for a professor of music, Brad Osborn, to wear for his exhibit/demonstration. Since he was basing his exhibit on specifically Scandinavian bands, I looked at these bands for inspiration. Also, this was one of the first times I was in charge of obtaining the costume items by myself without the aid of the University Theatre Costume Shop.

This was the first look I came up with. It was decided that it would be too far out of budget and too hot for the performer. Later the boots were decided to be better than those of the second look.

This was the second look, and ultimately what the final costume was based off of, with the exception of the boots.

This is what the final costume ended up looking like. Due to budget constraints, some of the pieces from the rendering had to be simplified, but the overall look remained intact.
